This new replacement aluminium front door was sourced for it’s thermal properties and was specified in RAL 9006 (Silver) to match the existing garage shutter. The frame is wider than the hole for it to sit in so I used a diamond disc cutter to cut a rebate into the walls either side, this means a very strong and secure fit, I was able to fit it in one go which I was pleased with, I then boxed in the top panel between the frame and the roof above, this was then clad in cedar panels to match another part of the property, some plastic trim was adhered and the whole unit was sealed with frame sealant for full weather proofing, the job took an entire day as I was being particularly fussy. The result is considerably quieter and warmer than before. Glass was ordered from 3 Ways Glass, it’s hardened and takes a week’s delivery, fitting is a 15 min job.
