My latest project was to build a new patio and some more formal planting, the site is on a steep hill with uneven ground. The client and I discussed a few options including the use of sleepers, they build structure quickly and economically.
Trenching was dug for concrete foundations so the leepers were well anchored, I don’t want this patio to move or sink over time. We then used nearly 40 hardwood sleeps to create the perimeter of the patio and for the raised planters.
6 cubic metres of type 1 base was dropped in and compressed, 2 cubic metres of cement was used to lay the 26 square metres of black limestone, we also filled the planters with 4 cubic metres of quality top soil.
