Plant borders are a great way to add interest and color to your garden. They can be used to define different areas of your garden, create a focal point, or simply add some visual appeal.
For this project I removed a huge amount of turf to create 2 huge planting borders, they are 18 meters long and 3 meters at the widest points, it took a few hours and I hired a turf cutter from Wellerhire.co.uk
The cutter was excellent but the volume of turf was close to a skip and a half. I slept well.
Gardenyden will be designing the new planting with the client.
Here are some tips for creating a successful plant border:
- Choose plants that will complement each other and that will thrive in the conditions in your garden.
- Plant the plants at the correct depth and spacing.
- Water the border regularly, especially during dry periods.
- Fertilize the plants according to the directions on the fertilizer label.
- Weed the border regularly.
- Mulch the border to help retain moisture and suppress weeds.
- Protect the border from pests and diseases.
